You are getting ready for your job interview and while you are preparing for it you might feel anxious about your interview, the questions you will be answering to, and the response of your interviewers. This is normal and we all get worried or fell anxiety before the interviews, the final exams, or the big class presentation. Getting anxious is a natural emotional reaction of humans towards the stressful events but when your head starts thinking worryingly too much then this may not be normal reaction.
Treatment for Anxiety Disorder
The treatment includes medication and behavioral therapies. Most prescribed medications to treat anxiety disorders include Benzodiazepines, anti-depressants, and Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MOIs).
Possible side effects of anxiety medication
All the effects which any medication brings in your body are called the side effects. Even the desired effects can be described as side effects of a drug. But normally we use this term to refer to the undesired effects of the medication. Like others, the anxiety medications can also cause side effects. While these side effects may hamper your normal life routine, the medication still makes an important part of your treatment plan as the psychiatrists believe that a combination of medical and therapeutic treatment is essential to relive anxiety effectively. It is believed that anxiety can be developed due to imbalances in the brain chemical levels. Medical treatment is hence used to re-establish this balance and since these drugs act on our nervous system they may also affect some other body functions. Let’s have a look on the possible side effects of the most prescribed medications for anxiety:
Possible side effects of BenzodiazepinesBenzodiazepines are psychoactive drugs and when streamed into our blood they act directly on our cortex and CNS (central nervous system). Benzodiazepines are notorious for making the body dependent on them. This physical dependence can make the withdrawal of the drug difficult. When the drug usage is stopped the patient may suffer with body seizures, hallucinations, agitation, and dizziness.
Possible side effects of Antidepressants
Unfortunately, even the anti-depressants are not benign to our body. Possible side-effects of anti-depressants include dryness in mouth, nausea, headaches, sedation or dizziness, and even blurred vision.
Possible side effects of Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MOIs)
MOIs are mostly prescribed to treat individuals with social anxiety disorders. MOIs are basically belong to a subclass of anti-depressants and are prescribed to those who do not respond to other anti-depressants. The possible side-effects of MOIs include negative interaction with some foods and other medicines, dry mouth, high blood pressure and increase in heart beat, changes in appetite, difficulty in getting sleep, and loss of sexual desire.
Do they just get rid of your anxiety and have no other side effect on your personality? I really hope they don’t change who I am because I have an appointment to actually get the medication in a week, and I’m nervous.
Herbs For Anxiety Can Do the Job!
Combining Passion Flower is going to intensify the effectiveness and act as a potent “nerve pill” without all of the dangerous side effects. The best thing about these anxiety herbs is that they are not addictive or dangerous to take.
Does Anti-anxiety Medication Cause Hair Loss
Both Effexor and Klonopin can cause hair loss but these side effects are rare. I was on a celexa another antidepresant that helps with anxiety and didnt experience any hair-loss. It has some sexual side effects.
